i3w is building AI-powered platforms for Indian government programs — Poshan-AI (child nutrition intelligence for ICDS/Anganwadi) and Angan AI (AI-generated curriculum and gamified learning for early childhood education). These systems serve Anganwadi workers, CDPO officers, and teachers in semi-urban and rural India — users who may be interacting with a digital interface for the first time.
Pravar Oza leads design at i3w and is moving into a strategic head-of-design role. You will work directly under his direction, executing design work for the B2G vertical. This is a freelance engagement — you deliver defined work to a high standard, on timeline. You are not a seat-filler. You are a designer who can translate complex government workflows into interfaces that a field worker in Odisha can use without training.
"Good design" in B2G means something different from consumer SaaS. Low-literacy users. Intermittent connectivity. Regional languages. Small screens. No second chances to explain the interface. If you have designed for government, public health, or rural India before, you know. If you haven't but understand the constraints deeply, we are open to that.
What You'll Do
- Design screens, flows, and components for Angan AI and Poshan-AI under Pravar's direction
- Produce wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interaction specs in Figma
- Design data display interfaces that surface ML outputs (malnutrition risk scores, learning progress) in a form non-technical users can act on
- Design for regional languages: Hindi, Odia, native numeral systems
- Design offline-capable, low-bandwidth interfaces appropriate for intermittent connectivity
- Contribute to the shared design system: components, tokens, and usage documentation
- Conduct or support user research with government field workers when needed
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in UX or product design with a portfolio to show for it
- Strong Figma skills — components, auto-layout, prototyping, handoff
- Experience designing for non-tech-native, low-literacy, or first-time digital users
- Understanding of accessibility and inclusive design — you apply it, not just endorse it
- Comfortable working as a consultant: self-directed, deliverable-oriented, responsive to direction
- Visual design fundamentals: typography, hierarchy, contrast, iconography
Nice to Have
- Direct experience designing for Indian government programs (ICDS, NHM, Samagra Shiksha, or similar)
- Experience with B2G SaaS, civic tech, or public health platforms
- Familiarity with designing AI/ML product interfaces — surfacing model outputs to non-technical users
- Experience with design for offline-first or low-bandwidth environments
- Hindi or Odia language proficiency
- Background in early childhood education, public health, or social impact design
