i3w

Gaming Developer

Govt · Gaming
Hiring manager: Manas Singh

About the Role

i3w is building AI-powered education platforms for Indian government programs — Angan AI serves early childhood education across Anganwadi centers. Games are a core delivery mechanism: curriculum-aligned, developmentally appropriate, and genuinely fun for 3–6 year olds who may be holding a tablet for the first time.

This is a developer role. You will build games in JavaScript with Phaser — browser-based, lightweight, deployable to low-end devices with intermittent connectivity. You think about game composition: scene management, sprite animation, audio cues, progression loops. You think about feel: the bounce of a button, the satisfaction of getting something right, the pull of wanting to try again. You are not a game designer who hands off a GDD. You implement it.

You will report to Manas Singh and work closely with the govt vertical team. We are not building AAA titles. We are building experiences that spark something in a child who's never played a video game. That requires taste, craft, and a developer who genuinely loves games. If that's you, we want to talk.

What You'll Do

  • Build browser-based educational games for the Angan AI platform using JavaScript and Phaser
  • Design and implement game scenes: character movement, collision, audio, animation, and progression
  • Integrate AI-generated content (images, audio, curriculum data) into game experiences via backend APIs
  • Optimize for low-end Android tablets: small bundle sizes, offline-capable assets, 30fps on constrained hardware
  • Implement regional language support within game UI (Hindi, Odia, regional scripts)
  • Work with the design and content teams to translate learning objectives into game mechanics
  • Use AI tools to accelerate asset generation, level design, and iteration speed
  • Contribute to the Sparks token economy: earning mechanics within game sessions

What We're Looking For

  • Strong JavaScript fundamentals — you write clean, performant JS, not just framework glue
  • Hands-on experience with Phaser or similar 2D game frameworks (Pixi.js, Kaboom.js) — you have shipped something with one
  • You think in game composition: scenes, states, loops, feedback, feel — not just "add points"
  • AI-native workflow — you use AI tools actively and creatively, for code, assets, and iteration
  • Genuine love for games — you play them, study them, and have opinions about what makes them work
  • Youthful energy — this is children's EdTech, and the work should reflect that
  • Comfort deploying to constrained environments: offline-first, low-bandwidth, small screen

Nice to Have

  • Experience building for early childhood education (ages 3–6) or similarly non-tech-native audiences
  • Familiarity with asset pipelines: sprite sheets, texture atlases, audio compression for web
  • Background in web animation (GSAP, CSS animations, canvas) beyond game engines
  • Experience with Indian language rendering in canvas/WebGL contexts
  • Prior work on government, civic tech, or public-sector projects
  • Understanding of early childhood development — what engagement looks like at age 4 vs age 6
